Route Description:

Ravenglass and Eskdale Route - the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Tramper allows you to explore the village, with its beautiful main street and lovely grassy promenade. The latter has magnificent views over the estuary into which three rivers flow - the rivers Irt, Mite and Esk.

Once you have had an explore of the village, refreshments are available at the Ratty Arms or the Turntable Cafe at the station.

You can then embark on the second section of the route. This takes you along the Eskdale Trail and on a trip back in time to visit the Roman Baths. These ruins, from when Ravenglass was an important Roman port, are incredibly well preserved with the original Roman mortar still holding strong.

This route was made possible with funding from the

Walney Extension Community Fund.
