An image of the four Sutton Bank volunteer Tramper 'buddies'. They stand against a brick wall, with the Tramper parked in front of them. They wear coats and are smiling to the camera.

It gives us great pleasure to introduce the amazing team of Tramper ‘buddy’ volunteers now available at Sutton Bank National Park Centre, Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

The team is on hand to accompany those members without a Tramper companion wishing to hire a Tramper at the fantastic Sutton Bank National Park Centre.  Users must be accompanied for safety reasons – to ensure someone is available to seek assistance in the event of an emergency.

The buddies are happy to walk and talk with you or just be at a distance if you prefer, to allow you to call on them if needed.

A buddy can be requested through Outdoor Mobility or directly via Sutton Bank Centre by calling 01845 597426.  If you intend to visit Sutton Bank unaccompanied, please make sure to arrange a buddy before making your Tramper booking. Buddies are subject to availability so please give as much notice as possible, to avoid disappointment.

Tramper bookings at Sutton Bank can be made at Sutton Bank Tramper Hire | Outdoor Mobility

The team look forward to welcoming you!

Great news! I was hoping they introduce away for disabled people unaccompanied so they could enjoyed the tramper.

Hope they roll tramper buddies elsewhere.

What an inspiring initiative! The Tramper buddy volunteers really seem to make a difference for visitors at Sutton Bank. How do you select and train these volunteers? Are there specific qualities you look for in potential buddies?
