Celebrating 20 years of community giving at Cockermouth Castle

Our Charity Development Manger, Julia, got to meet some of the great and the good of Cumbria, as Lord and Lady Egremont hosted a celebration of 20 years of Cumbria Community Foundation on Monday.

The event brought together some of the donors to Cumbria Community Foundation and charities benefiting from the funding, in a setting Julia described as Downton Abbey-ish.

Lake District Mobility has benefited enormously from funding provided by United Utilities and Cumberland Building Society Charitable Foundation, channelled to us through Cumbria Community Foundation. Their support enables us to continue our work of setting up Tramper schemes across the region, managing our membership and helping make the great outdoors accessible.

According to Cumbria Community Foundation, "2019 [is] a year of thanks and celebration for what has been achieved so far. But more importantly it is about the future and how we build philanthropy in Cumbria together... It [is] a year in which we hope to widen people’s involvement in the Community Foundation."

At Lake District Mobility, we are so grateful for the role Cumbria Community Foundation plays in providing charities, such as ourselves, invaluable opportunities to meet and network with other charities, not to mention, help those to help fund what we do.

Happy Birthday, and here's to the next twenty years!
