After the Launch day the below Routes will be available

Lowther Castle and Gardens has it all dramatic ruins, beautiful gardens within gardens, an adventure playground to rival the best in the land and stunning Lake District views. Beyond the gardens is the wider estate, with parkland, woodland and the River Lowther, all ready to be explored.

There are two Tramper routes which will be available after the Launch day:

1. Lowther Castle Gardens (paid entry required)

This route gives access through the grounds of the grounds of the Castle. With the Rose Garden, Orchard, South Lawns and the view from the Jubilee Summerhouse highlights of the route. Although you can't take the Tramper into 'the lost castle' playground. There is access up to the entrance where the Tramper can be left.

2. Lowther Church Loop

This route takes you into the parkland in front of the Castle with great views back to the ruins. You carry on down to the river Lowther and along its banks, on good gravel tracks, till you reach the Askham Bridge Carpark. Here is the possibility to return the way you have come or to continue along the road a short distance to the Bridge, where you carry straight on into the woods and return to the Castle. The path through the woods is rougher with some adverse cambers and steeper gradients, all of which are within the Tramper manufacturers recommendations but need care and confidence.

There is one Tramper available at Lowther Castle and each session lasts for four hours.

A member must be accompanied on the route by another person during the Tramper hire session.

Please ensure you arrive promptly as staff may not be available later and you may not be able to take the Tramper out.

These routes have been made by possible with funding from Avanti West Coast.

Avanti West Coast Services stop close by at Penrith Station.
