Route Description:

There are two different directions you can take from the Visitor Centre at Geltsdale. The first takes you along gravel tracks towards and then along the south side of Tindale Tarn. From this track you get great views over the Tarn and if you bring your binoculars you will see plenty of birdlife enjoying the water. The Track takes you behind the farm through a lovely wooded area before turning back. On the return you can take the Tramper to a gate 50m before the hide which is on the Tarn. If your mobility allows the Tramper can be left at a gate here and the final 50m to the hide is flat but on a grass surface.

The other direction you can take is up the valley from the Visitors Centre, this track is more challenging. It is bumpy and off camber in places with a couple of steep gradients. All within the capabilities of the Tramper but needing extra care. This track follows the stream, with meadows, marshes and views of the re-wilded fellside.
