High Force Waterfall, North Pennines Outdoor Mobility Tramper hire site location. 

High Force Waterfall

Times: 11am and 2pm

​

Distance: 1.2km/0.8miles
 

Gradient: Gradual descent to the Falls and ascend on return

 

High Force is one of the most dramatic waterfalls in the country with the Tees river spectacularly dropping 21m from the whin sill rock into the pool below.

​

The Tramper route starts from the High Force Hotel and winds gently down through beautiful woodland above the river. The magnificent fall gradually reveals itself and you can really appreciate the power of the water as it hits the plunge pool.

​

From High Force you make your way back through the woods to the Hotel.

​

Members must be accompanied on the route by another person during the Tramper hire session. All users must stay on the designated Tramper route path. 

​

Please note, there is a charge for parking, and you must also purchase a waterfall ticket from the hotel before undertaking the route.

Before you arrive:

Whilst at High Force Waterfall:

  • Arrive at the High Force Hotel 10 minutes prior to your hire slot.

  • For new members it’s essential for our staff to provide an induction on how to use the Tramper. 

  • There is a charge for parking, and you must purchase a waterfall ticket from the hotel before undertaking the route. 

  • There is a disabled toilet in the car park.

  • If there is severe weather the hotel may shut, information about shutting will be on the hotels website, or call them on  01833 622336 to confirm, if there is a concern.
