Support from the word 'go'

Since Lake District Mobility began, one of our strongest supporters has been Nathan Fox, Forest Ranger at Whinlatter Forest: our first site, and still our most popular.

Nathan has been involved with Lake District Mobility since our Charity Development Manager, Julia, first started looking into how a new charity might help make the Lakes more accessible to people with limited mobility.

Nathan was one of the first advocates for the scheme, and he has continued to speak about the benefits of our Trampers. This season, Lake District Mobility expect to have ten sites operating across the Lakes and the North York Moors - and we're very grateful to have had Nathan's backing all the way.

He said: "As soon as I met Julia I thought that anything would be possible, so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that we've got a tenth site. To be able to help with that somehow, in a little way along the way, means a lot to me."

For Nathan, having Trampers on site has made a fundamental difference at Whinlatter: "It's to give a wider range of people a lot more enjoyment and the ability to access the forest and to share in all the benefits that accessing the Forest brings... it doesn't matter whether people have injuries, disabilities, or any mobility issues, the fact that we can now offer them the opportunity to share in this amazing forest makes it all worthwhile."

Nathan's support - and his knowledge of the impact that our Trampers have on a day to day basis at Whinlatter - means a great deal to all of us at Lake District Mobility.
